The Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission invite you to come and check out this year's salamander migration! The last remaining population of Spotted Salamanders in East Brunswick breed in vernal pools off Beekman Road. They migrate from their hibernation area in the woods to the pools in the early spring, when the weather gets warmer. The salamanders generally come out during a rainy night when the temperature is over 40F, usually in March to early April. This year's migration started early and will not last much longer. Find out more about how the EBEC is working to protect the salamanders and about how you can safely observe them and their habitat by clicking here: Salamander Migration.
