East Brunswick Public Schools | Important Dates 2007-2008

Due to construction projects in several of our schools, an extra week is needed during the summer break. Therefore the first day of school for students will be September 10, 2007; EBHS graduation and the last day of school for students will be June 26, 2008.

Summer 2007

July 2 - Elementary Summer Academy Session 1 begins, Extended School Year begins

July 4 - Independence Day, schools and administrative offices closed

July 23 - Elementary Summer Academy Session 1 ends

July 24 - Elementary Summer Academy Session 2 begins

Aug 13 - Elementary Summer Academy Session 2 ends and Extended School Year ends

Aug 30, Sep 4, 6 - Churchill Student Orientation

Sept 3 - Labor Day, schools and administrative offices closed

Sept 4, 6 - Hammarskjold Student Orientation

Sept 4 - Kindergarten/New Elementary Student Orientation

Sept 6 - EBHS Sophomore and New Student Orientation

This calendar allows for 3 emergency closing days. If ALL schools are closed for more than 3 days for any reason, some of the days may be made up in the following priority order: Feb 18, Apr 25, Apr 24, Apr 23. Any unused emergency closing days will be subtracted from the end of the year for students and staff in grades Pre-K-9. At EBHS where the graduation day is set, unused emergency closing days will be used in the following priority order: June 6, May 23, TBA.

Fall 2007

Sept 10 - First day of school for all students

Sept 13, 14 - Fall recess, schools and administrative office closed

Oct 17 - No school for students, staff development

Nov 1, 2, 5: Single session grades K-12, Parent/Teacher conferences grades K-12, lunch served gr. 1-7

Nov 6 - Election Day, no school for students and teachers

Nov 7 - Single session grades K-9, parent/teacher conferences grades K-9, lunch served Gr. 1-7

Nov 8, 9 - NJEA Teachers Convention, schools closed

Nov 21 - Single session day, students and staff, lunch served grades 1-7

Nov 22, 23 - Thanksgiving holiday, schools and administration offices closed

Winter 2008

Dec 24, 2007 - Jan 1, 2008 - Winter Vacation, schools and administrative offices closed, classes resume Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Jan 21 - Martin Luther King Day, schools and administrative offices closed

Feb 5 - NJ Presidential Primary Election Day, Single session students/full day teachers, no lunch

Feb 15 - No school for students - staff development

Feb 18 - Presidents' Day, schools and administrative offices closed

Spring 2008

Mar 3, 4, 5, 6 - Single session students grades K-9, Grades K-9 parent/teacher conferences, lunch served grades 1-7

Mar 4, 5, 6 - Single session students grades 10-12, parent/teacher conferences, and HSPA testing grades 11 & 12, no lunch served at EBHS

Mar 4, 5, 6 - Kindergarten registration at elementary schools, Make-up day, May 7, 2008

Mar 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 - NJ ASK testing Grade 4

Mar 10, 11 12 - NJ ASK testing Grade 3

Mar 21, Mar 24 - Spring Recess I

Mar 26 - New first grade student registration at elementary schools

April 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 - Spring Vacation

April 28, 29, 30, May 1 - NJ ASK testing Grades 7 & 8

May 5, 6, 7, 8 - NJ ASK testing Grades 5 & 6

May 26 - Memorial Day
