Course offerings in this program
are designed to promote basic living skill education and training, social
skills and employment skills for adults who have a developmental disability.
The program runs from September to June.
Download a registration form Eligibility requirements: Residents of Middlesex County, age 18 and over, who are registered with the State of New Jersey, Division of Developmental Disabilities. Each participant may enroll in one evening of classroom/community instruction and one evening of social/recreational programming. Course 001 This course includes a combination of skill and practical career training with hands-on involvement in the program's refreshment stand. Areas to be covered include:

Instructors: Michelle Mastrogiovanni Course 003 Improve your flexibility and tone your muscles using a variety of weights and fitness equipment. Areas to be covered include:
Instructor: Jeffrey Bergson Course 004 Practice communication skills while
developing a hobby. Students are exposed to a variety of craft materials
and have an opportunity to create a variety of handcrafted items for
personal use or to give as gifts. Student participation is emphasized. Course 005 This three-segment course combines exercise and dance movements with a variety of musical styles. Areas to be covered include:

Instructors: Mindy Turkenitz Course 007 This real life applications class will help you improve your money handling skills and will include occasional field trips. Areas to be covered include:
Instructors: Mary Jane Loehr, Karen Wright Course 008 Participate in a variety of hands-on activities designed to help you become more independent in self care, developing relationships with your peers, communication skills, social skills and leisure activities Instructor: Karen Wright Course 009 Improve your basic reading skills through
individual and small group instruction including spelling, reading,
oral presentations, writing and comprehension skills. Limited use of specialized computer
programs will be included. Course 010 Learn about your rights and develop confidence in your
abilities through peer group discussion and activities. Students are
encouraged to discuss topics affecting their daily lives. A staff
advisor will be available to assist in developing an agenda and to
provide support. Course 011 Learn basic shopping and food preparation skills by alternating weekly shopping and cooking experiences. Areas to be covered include:
