The mission of Memorial School is to ensure that each student develops a love for learning, a belief in his/her potential and a desire to build a respectful and peaceful community. Welcome to Memorial School where we believe that Together We Can Make a Difference! Memorial is an exciting and vibrant learning community where students, staff and parents work together in partnership to benefit students. Our dedicated staff works diligently to actively engage students in studies through various instructional techniques designed to meet the needs of all learning styles in a nurturing and supportive environment. Staff can be observed teaching students to think critically, problem solve, use manipulatives to solve math problems and integrating technology to enhance and support the curriculum through the use of SmartBoards, PowerPoint, Study Island and United Streaming. We have high expectations for our students and encourage them to become responsible, independent and productive citizens while developing a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Creating a positive school climate is one of our goals. This is accomplished by modeling positive interactions between staff, students, parents and community members and the inclusion of conflict resolution strategies. Character education is integrated into lessons using the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. These lessons are introduced during the first week of school and continue throughout the year. Involvement in clubs is encouraged. The activities associated within each provide students with additional opportunities to use important concepts learned in class. These include writing, using technology, communicating and social concepts such as working cooperatively. Information on clubs can be found on our Clubs and Activities page. At Memorial, we strongly believe that collaboration between parents, students, teachers and administrators will provide the most successful, rich and challenging educational experience for each child. Let’s work together for a great year! Pam Mayo Principal
